Bell vs Rogers vs Telus: New 2025 report reveals Canada’s best 5G and fibre
Ookla has released its Canada Connectivity Report for the second half of 2025, offering a snapshot of how mobile and home internet networks performed across the country based on millions of Speedtest results collected between July and December.
According to the report, Bell ranked as the best and fastest 5G provider in Canada during the period. Ookla’s Speedtest Intelligence data shows Bell delivered the highest median 5G download speeds at 171.1 Mbps, along with upload speeds of 13.61 Mbps. Bell also topped the rankings for overall mobile speed when all technologies were combined.
Bell also led on the home internet side. Its pure fibre service was named the fastest fixed internet option in Canada, with median download speeds of 372.04 Mbps and upload speeds of 321.44 Mbps. Bell also recorded the best fixed broadband gaming performance.
Rogers stood out for video streaming. The report found Rogers delivered the best mobile video experience in Canada, including the top score for 5G video streaming. Rogers also had the highest 5G availability, with users connected to a 5G network most of the time compared to other national carriers.
When it comes to reliability, Telus ranked highest for mobile network consistency, meaning users were more likely to experience stable, usable speeds during everyday use.
At the city level, Vancouver recorded the fastest median mobile download speeds among major Canadian cities, while Edmonton led on fixed broadband speeds.
Best Mobile Network and Fixed Internet Performance Winners
So what’s the best mobile network in Canada for the second half of 2025? Ookla says nobody emerged as the top rated mobile provider, because based on Speedtest Intelligence data, there was “no statistical difference between the mobile providers.”
For the July to December 2025 testing period, the mobile awards from Ookla show Bell taking top honours across several categories, including Best 5G Network, Fastest Mobile Network, Fastest 5G Network, Best Mobile Gaming Experience, and Best 5G Gaming Experience.
Rogers led in video performance, earning awards for Best Mobile Video Experience and Best 5G Video Experience. Telus did not get any awards.
For fixed internet performance during the same period, Bell pure fibre swept all categories, earning awards for Best Fixed ISP, Fastest Fixed ISP, Best Fixed Broadband Gaming Experience, and Top Rated Fixed ISP. Neither Rogers nor Telus received any fixed network awards during the reporting period.
Ookla notes the results are based on real-world user tests rather than advertised speeds, and performance can vary depending on device, location, and network conditions.

Telus is setting new standards for the worst customer service. Does that count for anything?
Thanks to ai chatbots and offshore staff. Once great customer service is now long waiting hours with little to no solution. Wish they hired Canadians.
If the most reliable award went to Telus, I call bullocks. Either that, or Bell and Rogers have reached unprecedented depths.
Can’t really call this a 3 way race either, we all know bell and telus piggy back the same identical towers vs rogers being the standalone, which had to build out separately… want a true comparison, get telus to build out separately…
Round robin of awards. Ookla’s average results. Lol.
Ookla’s Speedtest is sponsored by Bell. They only have good 5G networks in the larger city in the southern section of provinces. The more reliable service is Roger’s but down the road they are all over priced and all have poor customer service. And the Telus and Bell are partners and share towers and systems. So really you only have Roger’s or Bell.
