Wealthsimple to End Credit Card Waitlist: Here is the Full 2026 Feature Schedule

Wealthsimple Visa Infinite Card

Following a recent Reddit Ask Me Anything (AMA) earlier this week, the Wealthsimple product team has provided a clear roadmap for several highly anticipated features. From credit card availability to complex account types, here is the latest on when you can expect these updates to go live.

The Wealthsimple Credit Card

Wealthsimple is working to eliminate the credit card waitlist entirely “later this year”. Customers have been griping about the incredibly long wait list, and now those concerns look to be addressed. Currently, over 90% of cards have been issued to existing clients, with priority going to Generation, Premium, and long-tenured users. New features like credit limit increases are currently rolling out to all users, and trip delay insurance was officially added this week.

Norbert’s Gambit and Trading Tools

For those looking to save on currency conversion, Norbert’s Gambit is currently in limited testing and is expected to roll out broadly within the next one to two months. Additionally, individual share DRIPs and a revamp of recurring investments are slated for the end of the first half of 2026. Canadian options trading is also on the roadmap for later this year.

Account Types: QESI and RDSP

Quebec residents can expect QESI (Quebec Education Savings Grant) support to launch this spring. While the Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP) is not yet in active development, Wealthsimple plans to launch it either later this year or in 2027.

Borrowing and Household Management

The Portfolio Line of Credit (PLOC) is rolling out now, allowing users to borrow against their investments. On the family front, household trading authorization—which allows you to see performance insights across family accounts—is expected in the next month or two, with authorized trader functionality entering beta in Q2.

Security and Platform Tweaks

Wealthsimple is revamping its homepage for both mobile and web to allow for better customization. On the security side, expect a broader rollout of passkeys and “trusted device” settings later this year to protect large withdrawals and transfers.

Other Notable Updates

Wealthsimple also confirmed it is in the early stages of exploring GICs, though no specific timeline is available yet. For those looking to move assets, US brokerage transfers are currently in beta testing. The company is also working on a broader solution to support Canadian non-residents, with more information expected later this year.

Quebec residents should note that while there is no official launch date, Wealthsimple is actively working through the unique regulatory requirements to bring mortgages to the province soon. On the technology front, the team is already working with regulators to prepare for the rollout of Open Banking in Canada.

Regarding the user experience, the team acknowledged feedback about intrusive in-app promotions and is working to better balance useful information with “noise.” Finally, Wealthsimple reminded users that phone support is available to all Core clients; users simply need to ask the chatbot to be connected to a live agent by phone.

A lot of these features were first teased by Wealthsimple during last October’s ‘For Nerds Only’ event. Lots of users were asking when these updates were coming and now there’s clarity on the rollouts.

Fake news, Weathsimple has been promising credit cards to customers for months, this article is the type of propaganda traditional media posts without any verification.
