New Gemini Feature on Galaxy S26 and Pixel 10 Can Now Book Rides for You

Google gemini tool beta android.

Google has shared an early preview of a new feature that allows its Gemini AI to handle repetitive, multi-step tasks on your behalf. Launching soon as a beta for the Pixel 10 series and the new Samsung Galaxy S26 series, the tool is designed to offload common daily errands directly to the AI.

The service will initially roll out to users in the United States and Korea (sorry Canada). Google says the automation is intended to work seamlessly in the background, allowing users to continue using their devices for other things while the AI completes a request.

The feature is triggered by long-pressing the power button. Users can then ask Gemini to perform complex actions across different platforms, such as booking a rideshare home or reordering a specific previous meal on DoorDash.

Initially, the beta will be limited to select applications within the food delivery, grocery, and rideshare categories. Google said that this is just the beginning of its plans to integrate AI more deeply into the Android app ecosystem.

To address potential security concerns, Google has built the automation using a virtual window system. When Gemini executes a task, it runs the necessary app in a secure, isolated environment on the phone. This reportedly prevents the AI from accessing the rest of the device’s data or apps it hasn’t been specifically authorized to use.

Google says users have control and transparency throughout the automation process. You can monitor Gemini’s progress in real-time via live notifications, providing the constant ability to view, interrupt, or completely stop a task if the AI makes an error. To ensure security and privacy, these automations are designed to shut down immediately once a specific command is finished.

While the initial beta is limited to the latest flagship hardware from Google and Samsung, the company says it is looking for feedback to refine the experience before a wider rollout.

Let’s hope Apple will bring some of these Gemini automations over to AI Siri. At this point, Siri needs a complete overhaul and the new version can’t come soon enough.
