Rogers Satellite Starlink Customers Now Have Coverage in the U.S.

Rogers has announced that Canadians can now stay connected in remote areas of the U.S. where traditional cellular networks do not reach. This new satellite-to-mobile coverage, powered by SpaceX’s Starlink, adds 1.3 million square kilometres of connectivity across the United States.

The service is a collaboration between Rogers Satellite and T-Mobile’s T-Satellite network, which is the U.S. partner for Starlink Mobile (formerly known as Direct to Cell). By combining these technologies, Rogers says it now offers the most extensive coverage across both Canada and the U.S.

“Canadians want to stay connected wherever they are, even when they’re travelling,” said Mark Kennedy, Chief Technology Officer, Rogers, in a statement on Thursday. “By expanding satellite-to-mobile technology, our customers can get more coverage and roam effortlessly throughout the U.S.”

In areas lacking cell service, Starlink Mobile technology allows users to send text messages, including text-to-911 and public safety alerts. It also supports various popular apps such as WhatsApp, Messenger, X, Google Maps, AllTrails, and AccuWeather.

“The mission of T-Satellite is to extend coverage to places no cell signal has ever reached – keeping our customers connected in more places than ever before,” said Jeff Giard, VP of Business Development and Partnership Marketing, T-Mobile, in a statement. “Together with Rogers, we’re bringing that same experience to travellers exploring beyond the reach of traditional networks in the U.S.”

For Rogers customers, this U.S. satellite roaming is included at no extra cost for those on Popular or Ultimate plans with U.S. coverage, as well as those using Roam Like Home or select Travel Passes. Rogers Satellite is also available for non-Rogers customers for $15 per month.
