Public Mobile Slashes Data on Popular $35 Canada-US-Mexico Plan
Telus prepaid brand Public Mobile has made a minor tweak to its plans to cut a hefty amount data off its $35/80GB Canada-US-Mexico promo plan, which ended on April 21.
Here are Public Mobile’s plans as of writing:
- $22/0GB 4G
- $25/3GB 4G
- $27/10GB 4G
- $30/20GB 4G
- $35/35GB (was 80GB) 5G
- $40/100GB Canada-US-Mexico 5G
- $45/175GB Canada-US-Mexico 5G
As you can see, the $35 plan now has 35GB of data, down 45GB. Public Mobile also added “0GB” to the $22 4G plan to emphasize it does not come with any data, but the latter is only available through an add-on.
The $35 plan is far better than the $39/$40 20GB plans being offered from flanker brands such as Fido, Virgin Plus and Koodo. But it’s not as good as the $35/100GB global plan from Freedom Mobile, which includes 1GB of global roaming data, plus global talk and text.

That’s a pretty significant drop in data for the same price. Not a great move for customers. 威樂
It really feels like these carriers hook people with promos and then scale things back later. 威樂
They didn’t drop the data on people who already have the $35/80GB plan, only for people signing up now.
How much data does one actually use in a month. I guess if you are streaming movies etc, you might use more.
Actually going up to 100gb at the end of the month for existing customers. Thank you Public
