Best Prepaid Plans in Canada for May 2026: Fizz vs. Public, Lucky & Chatr
We’ve analyzed the latest wireless plans from Rogers, Telus, Bell, and Freedom Mobile for May 2026, including their flanker brands Fido, Koodo, and Virgin Plus. To finish our review, let’s look at pricing for the prepaid brands—Chatr, Lucky Mobile, and Public Mobile—along with Quebecor’s Fizz, where the best rates always require autopay.
Public Mobile
- $35/35GB (was 30GB) 5G Canada (gone is US)
- $40/75GB (was 60GB) 5G Canada-US-Mexico
- $45/100GB (was $50) 5G Canada-US-Mexico
- $22 (was $20/500MB) 4G
- $25/3GB (was $23/2GB) 4G
- $27/10GB (was $26/5GB) 4G
- $30/20GB (was 15GB) 4G
Compared to April, Public Mobile’s plans in May have increased data for its 5G plans plus a $5 price drop on the 100GB option. As for the 4G plans, they are more expensive in May than they were last month, despite some data increases.
Lucky Mobile
- $19/500MB
- $21/1GB
- $25/25GB
- $29/35GB (was 25GB)
- $34/80GB (was $35/35GB)
Lucky Mobile increased data on its $29 plan, while its top plan saw a price drop. Gone are the $39/60GB and $47/80GB options in April.
Chatr
- $19/500MB
- $21/1GB
- $25/25GB (was 20GB)
- $34/80 (was $39)
As for Chatr, the $29/35GB plan has been removed compared to April, while the $25 plan saw a 5GB data increase.
Fizz
- $22 talk and text
- $24/2GB (was $23/1GB) 4G
- $25/25GB (was 2GB) 4G
- $29/35GB (was 10GB) 4G
- $34/80GB (was $35/50GB) 5G
- $39/100GB (was $45/100GB) 5G
Also worth mentioning are plans from No Name Mobile which runs on the Bell LTE network:
- $19/2GB
- $25/30GB
- $29/40GB
- $34/85GB
As for Fizz, it increased the price of its entry 4G data plan by $1, while the rest of its 4G plans saw a data increase. Its 5G plans got cheaper $5 and $6 respectively. The $32/25GB 4G plan was axed.
Public Mobile, Lucky Mobile, and Chatr are mostly trading data bumps for small price changes, but Fizz is the clear winner here with 5G price cuts and data increases across the board when looking at plans in May versus April. While the Big 3 prepaid brands are streamlining their mid-tier options, Fizz is applying the most pressure by making 100GB of 5G data more affordable.

PC Mobile is one of the best ones $25 25GB 5G and has phone call support.
No Wi-Fi calling so it’s trash.
I have wifi calling… I dont use it. Im paying for their services. Im gonna uses their phone poles
The connection to their infrastructure from your phone via towers is only one component of the service. Use what’s best for you but you are not eliminating all of their costs when you use wi-fi calling There’s still the back end and the portion of the call from their back end to the caller/recipient.
Unfortunately, Fizz cannot really compete until it has true nationwide coverage. Both Fizz and Freedom are improving as they continue to expand, and if you live within one of their home coverage areas, the service can be a solid option. However, for people who travel across the country or live outside those coverage zones—which is the case for many Canadians—the value becomes much less appealing.
I also suspect that if Fizz eventually achieves full nationwide coverage, its prices will likely increase. At the moment, I think Public Mobile comes out ahead overall because it offers broader coverage while keeping prices fairly close to Fizz’s. For example, I’m currently on a $35 Canada–US–Mexico plan with 100 GB, which is hard to beat for the coverage included.
This right here
Fizz is garbage. Worse than Freedom in many provinces. The end.
