Koodo Customer Scores Insane $20 Plan With 165GB of US-Mexico Roaming

A Koodo customer in Quebec managed to lock in one of the more jaw-dropping phone plans we’ve seen in a while: 165GB of 5G data for $20 a month, with unlimited calling and texting and data across Canada, the US, and Mexico thrown in.

The deal surfaced on RFD and comes with the usual YMMV (your mileage may vary) warning, meaning don’t expect to walk into a Koodo store and ask for it. This one was the result of a winback offer that turned into a drawn-out back-and-forth with customer support, capped off by a CCTS complaint after a Koodo agent offered an expired plan and then hung up on the customer. The Koodo customer posted screenshots of their plan to verify this crazy deal.

Armed with a call recording and transcript, the customer pushed back and Koodo’s loyalty team came through with this offer to make things right.
The $20 price is built on stacked discounts: a $10 pre-authorized payment credit plus two $5 manual discounts that run for 24 months. The 165GB itself is made up of an 80GB base, a 75GB bonus that lasts 24 months, and a permanent 10GB perk. On top of that, the plan includes unlimited international minutes to 27 countries, voicemail, and Wi-Fi calling.

While you can’t simply sign up for these unlisted deals, it is a stark reminder that customer loyalty departments hold far more leverage than the standard plans on their websites. Landing a deep discount often comes down to your willingness to negotiate firmly, document your interactions, and fully understand your consumer rights and the leverage at your disposal, and in this case it was one lucky Koodo customer.
