New iPhone Air to Release in Spring 2027, Featuring Dual Lens Camera

Apple is reportedly working on a new version of the iPhone Air, and it’s expected to launch sometime in spring 2027. In a recent Bloomberg report, it’s claimed the new model will sport a dual-lens array, offering both an ultra-wide and a wide option.
The report claims that an iPhone Air featuring two camera lenses has reached the advanced testing phase internally within the company. The device is said to be nearly identical to the existing model, except for having two camera lenses instead of one.
Bloomberg claims that Apple may also intend to improve battery life. It’s unclear whether the new iPhone Air will offer a larger battery or whether there will be hardware and software improvements to increase the efficiency of the existing battery. The device is said to sport the A20 chip, rather than the A19 Pro, which would improve battery life.
Over the past year, there have been multiple conflicting reports surrounding a new iPhone Air model. Following the launch of the original iPhone Air in September 2025, Apple saw a lukewarm response to the device. Reports began coming out that Apple may cancel a refresh of the device due to weak sales. Soon after, further reports suggested a new iPhone Air would release after all and that Apple would “grit its teeth” and release at least two generations of the device, pushing through growing pains.
Bloomberg’s latest report seems to corroborate the idea that the new model will support a second camera lens, a notion that has been percolating for quite some time.
If this is indeed true, Apple will likely release the new iPhone Air around the same time as the base iPhone 18 next year. Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and first foldable iPhone are likely to launch this September.
