Bell’s $30/100GB Lucky Pitch Is the Same Prepaid-to-Postpaid Play

A Lucky Mobile customer on r/bell says Bell will not stop sending switch offers, and the latest one is 100GB for $30 a month with U.S. roaming if they bring their own phone.
They pay $34 plus tax on Lucky, about $38 all in, for 60GB and they are happy with it. The Bell offer is about $4 cheaper before tax, which is tempting, but they wanted to know if anyone who actually switched still likes the deal a few bills later.
The offer is a select BYOP plan after an Autopay credit and an extra credit, so the $30 sticker is not the rack rate. One commenter said they did switch, got a $6 a month raise two or three months later, and went back to Lucky when Bell would not negotiate.
Others said expect another hike six months after that, and that the move also gives Bell a reason to run a credit check for phone financing. The original poster is staying on Lucky and waiting for a Lucky promo instead.
This is not just Bell. Telus has been pushing Public Mobile customers onto Koodo and Telus postpaid, including a Fast Switch tool that now dumps you onto Telus in a few minutes, and Rogers has been running the same migration texts from chatr.
The cheap number is after credits and Autopay, and you usually need a credit check once you leave prepaid. The parent brand can raise the rate later, which is the whole point of moving you off a flanker plan that was not supposed to keep hiking.
If you are happy on Lucky at $38 after tax for 60GB, the extra data and U.S. roaming are the only real reasons to move, not the four bucks. Did you get this $30/100GB offer too?
