Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro is now up for pre-order in Canada, but carrier pricing is all over the place once financing and return programs are factored in.
Apple sells the 256GB iPhone 18 Pro for $1,749 outright. Freedom Mobile matches that price, while Rogers, Bell and Telus are all charging roughly $50 more, once again. The monthly payments get even more complicated once Save & Return, Flex Option, Bring-It-Back and TradeUp are added to the mix.
Freedom is the only major carrier here matching Apple’s direct price of $1,749 for the 256GB iPhone 18 Pro.
With TradeUp, the phone drops to $29 per month for 24 months on an eligible $70 per month plan with Digital Discount.
Freedom’s offer includes a $693 TradeUp amount and $360 in MyTab savings. Customers pay $696 toward the phone over two years, then either return it or pay the $693 TradeUp amount to keep it.
That gives Freedom the “lowest” advertised monthly device payment of the four carriers compared here, while also matching Apple’s retail price.
Bell charges $1,799.28 for the 256GB iPhone 18 Pro, about $50 more than Apple. Regular SmartPay financing works out to $74.97 per month over 24 months.
Bell’s Flex Option lowers the monthly device payment to $37.49 by deferring $899.64 of the phone’s price.
At the end of the term, customers can return the device in good working condition or repay the deferred amount to keep it.
Bell’s lowest device price requires an Ultra plan starting at $100 per month. A cheaper Select plan starts at $80 per month, but the phone payment rises to $49.98 per month.
Bell also charges a one-time $40 device handling fee, which is currently under fire from the CRTC.
Telus lists the 256GB iPhone 18 Pro at $1,799. Its Bring-It-Back option lowers the device payment to $37.50 per month for 24 months.
Telus breaks that deal down with a $279 promotional discount and a $620 Bring-It-Back amount. Customers pay $900 toward the phone over two years, then either return it or pay the $620 balance to keep it.
The catch is the wireless plan. Telus requires its $125 per month 5G+ Complete Unlimited Explore plan for the lowest Bring-It-Back pricing.
Rogers lists the 256GB iPhone 18 Pro at $1,799.28, or $74.97 per month over 24 months with regular financing.
Its Save & Return option lowers the device payment to $52.05 per month with a $550 Save & Return credit.
Customers have to return the phone after two years or pay the remaining amount to keep it.
That’s where it gets messy.
The advertised monthly payments are not directly comparable because Bell, Telus, Rogers and Freedom all use different deferred amounts, plan requirements and promotional discounts.
Freedom has the lowest listed retail price and the lowest advertised monthly device payment in this comparison, but the plan price still matters when looking at the true two-year cost.
For buyers who simply want the lowest retail price, Apple and Freedom are tied at $1,749 for the 256GB iPhone 18 Pro.
If you can afford it, buying the phone outright and pairing it with a cheaper bring-your-own-device plan is still the simplest way to avoid these return-program calculations.
Apple is also offering 0% APR financing over 24 months, which gives buyers another option without having to deal with a return program. Apple has also increased trade-in amounts this year, so it’s worth checking to see what your phone is worth, then applying the 0% APR.
This year Apple also increased the price of iPhones, so if you don’t need an upgrade right away, there’s still a good argument for waiting (you don’t need an iPhone 18 Pro Max to doom scroll on Instagram…or do you?).
