Fido vs Virgin Plus vs Koodo: Best Cellphone Plans – October 2026

Fido, Virgin Plus and Koodo cellphone plans

Back-to-school season is officially behind us, and the flanker brands are doing what flanker brands do in October: absolutely nothing. We compared current bring-your-own-device plans from Fido, Virgin Plus and Koodo against our September roundup, and every tier and every price is identical. If you are shopping this month, the decision comes down to the small print, not the sticker price. Plans below are BYOD after autopay discounts, using Ontario/national headline numbers in CAD per month; Quebec pricing differs where noted.

Fido

  • $45/20GB
  • $50/60GB
  • $55/60GB Canada-US-Mexico (roaming for 12 months)

No movement at Fido. The $45/$50/$55 price range is the same one that has held since the July across-the-board $5 hike, and the $5 Auto-Pay discount remains the way to land these prices.

Virgin Plus

  • $45/20GB
  • $50/60GB
  • $55/60GB Canada-US-Mexico

The same story at Virgin Plus. Ontario autopay prices match September exactly.

Koodo

  • $40/10GB (student deal)
  • $45/20GB
  • $50/60GB
  • $55/60GB Canada-US-Mexico; international calling only for 2 years
  • $60/100GB

Koodo holds its ground too. The $40/10GB student deal is still listed, and the $60/100GB bucket remains the only 100GB option among the three flankers, which keeps it the pick for heavy data users who do not want a premium parent-brand plan.

Three brands, zero changes, one theme: the flanker market is in a holding pattern until the holiday promos arrive. If you need a plan today, Koodo’s 100GB tier is the data play; otherwise patience is the strategy if you can hold off until Black Friday in late November.

For the premium side of the market, see our September Rogers, Telus, Bell and Freedom roundup, and prepaid shoppers can check the September prepaid roundup (October edition coming).
