Virgin Plus Axes $45/20GB Plan, Raises Talk and Text to $30

Bell-owned Virgin Plus has dropped its $45/20GB plan, leaving $50/60GB as its cheapest non-Basic data option for new customers.
The change comes less than a week after our October flanker roundup showed Fido, Virgin Plus and Koodo holding prices steady.
Virgin Plus also raised its talk-and-text plan from $25 to $30. Its $55/60GB Canada-U.S.-Mexico plan stays at the same price, but now includes unlimited international calls to 27 countries.
Here’s Virgin Plus BYOD pricing as of October 8, 2026, after $10 autopay credit for new activations:
- $30 talk and text (was $25; pay-per-use data)
- $50/60GB
- $55/60GB Canada-U.S.-Mexico
Virgin Plus still offers Basic plans at $19/250MB and $39/3GB, but data speeds top out at a paltry 3.1 Mbps.
For someone who only needs 20GB, the next non-Basic option now costs $5 more per month. You get triple the data, but that doesn’t help your bill if you weren’t using the original allowance.
Virgin Plus previously raised plan prices by $5 in July. Parent company Bell also increased its BYOD prices by up to $10 earlier this week.
As of our October 3 roundup, Fido and Koodo both offered $45/20GB plans. Now we wait to see whether they keep those options or follow Virgin’s lead ahead of Black Friday.
These changes affect new activations, so removing the $45 plan doesn’t itself change the price for existing customers already on it.
