Apple’s First Smart Lock, Doorbell and Thermostats Are Coming to Canada in December

Apple Home Collection cameras, doorbell, smart lock and thermostats from LG and Schneider Electric

Apple has introduced Apple Home Collection, a new lineup of cameras, a video doorbell, a smart lock and thermostats built with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric, and most of it is coming to Canada. The lineup follows Apple’s plans for an LG doorbell, thermostat and cameras and the first leaked images of the LG accessories.

The accessories go on sale in December at Apple’s online store, in the Apple Store app and at Apple Stores, with select products arriving in early 2027. Apple has not said which items fall into that later window, and no pre-order date is listed. Apple announced the lineup at its Welcome Home event.

Canadian pricing is set. The LG Video Doorbell Wired starts at $349.95, the LG Floodlight Cam at $549.95, the LG Outdoor Cam Plug-In at $399.95 and the LG Indoor Cam Plug-In at $279.95. The LG Smart Deadbolt Lock is $479.95.

For climate control, the LG Smart Thermostat and Schneider Home Smart Thermostat both start at $279.95, with matching LG and Schneider room sensors at $54.95 each. Installation add-ons include C-Wire power adapters at $34.95 and a Schneider trim plate at $19.95. All prices are in CAD.

Until now, Apple’s smart home has relied on third-party Works with Apple Home and Matter accessories, each with its own app and account. This lineup is Apple’s first set of recommended products designed with partners to work entirely inside the Home app. Setup starts with a single tap on iPhone, with no extra app or account required.

All four LG cameras record up to 2.5K video and recognize people, familiar faces, pets, vehicles and packages, with 10 days of history stored in iCloud+ instead of a separate camera subscription. The doorbell has a second, full HD camera aimed down at packages, and the indoor camera physically tilts away to stop monitoring when someone gets home. Local storage keeps recording during Wi-Fi outages.

LG’s Smart Deadbolt Lock uses Ultra Wideband to unlock as you walk up with your iPhone or Apple Watch, and also supports tap to unlock, a PIN pad and a hidden backup key. It supports Matter and Aliro and keeps working without an internet connection.

The thermostats use Adaptive Temperature to adjust based on whether anyone is home or asleep, and Apple says they work with a broad range of HVAC systems. Clean Energy Guidance is limited to the contiguous U.S., as is the ADT professional installation offered through Apple Retail, so Canadians are on their own with a screwdriver.

Every product supports Thread and ties into hubs like the new Apple HomeView smart display, HomePod and Apple TV. The new HomePod mini 2 can also announce visitors at the doorbell using Face Recognition.

Which of these would you install first, the lock, the doorbell or the thermostat?
