Apple is officially entering the smart display market with HomeView, a new HomePod device that brings Siri AI, entertainment, FaceTime and smart home controls together in one place.

Announced at its Welcome Home event, Apple HomeView features a 7-inch Liquid Retina display on a domed speaker base. A stainless steel hinge lets users adjust the screen’s viewing angle, while a separate wall-mounted model is designed for entryways, kitchens, and hallways. Both versions cost $429 in Canada, with pre-orders opening today ahead of a November 13 launch.

HomeView represents Apple’s latest push into the connected home, following earlier reports about its long-awaited smart home hub. Unlike a traditional HomePod, the device offers a visual interface to manage accessories, communicate with family members, and access personal information.

At the centre of HomeView is Siri AI, Apple’s redesigned voice assistant powered by Apple Intelligence and the A18 chip. Apple says Siri AI supports more natural conversations, broader general knowledge and onscreen awareness.

When paired with an Apple Intelligence-compatible iPhone or iPad, the assistant can also reference personal information from Messages, Calendar and supported apps to answer questions and complete tasks. For example, users could ask Siri about an upcoming appointment or find information previously shared in a conversation without manually opening individual apps.

HomeView also recognizes up to six household members through facial recognition, automatically switching between personalized Home Screens, widgets and content. Apple says private information remains protected, and sensitive content appears only when the recognized user’s paired iPhone or iPad is nearby and was recently unlocked.

Beyond Siri, HomeView doubles as a central dashboard for Apple’s smart home ecosystem. Users can adjust lighting, control thermostats, lock doors and monitor security cameras. The Home Camera face supports up to nine simultaneous video feeds, while compatible HomeKit Secure Video cameras can identify people, pets, packages and vehicles with a supported iCloud+ subscription.

For entertainment, HomeView supports Apple Music, Podcasts, Apple TV and compatible third-party apps. The tabletop model includes Spatial Audio, while FaceTime uses Center Stage to keep callers framed during video conversations. Additional features include interactive recipes, hands-free timers, Find My, Intercom and customizable display faces featuring Photos, Flow and Snoopy.

Apple is also introducing the Home Collection, a lineup of cameras, thermostats and a smart lock developed with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric.

HomeView comes in silver, starlight, rose pink and space grey. The wall-mounted model is available in silver and space grey. An optional wall mount is also available for $79.95, with wired options costing up to $179.95 CAD.

Siri AI supports English in Canada at launch, with Canadian French arriving through a future software update. Canadians can pre-order HomeView directly from Apple starting today.
