New Apple TV 4K Costs $429 in Canada, Over Double the 2022 Price

Apple has unveiled a new Apple TV 4K at its Welcome Home event, with Siri AI, built-in far-field microphones for hands-free control, and a faster A19 chip. It arrives alongside the Apple HomeView smart display and a redesigned HomePod mini 2.
The fourth-generation Apple TV 4K is available to pre-order today in Canada from Apple’s online store and the Apple Store app for $429 CAD. In-store availability begins Friday, November 13.
That is a big jump from the previous Apple TV 4K, which launched in October 2022 with the A15 Bionic chip at $179 for the 64GB Wi-Fi model and $199 for the 128GB Wi-Fi plus Ethernet model, so the new one costs more than double. Apple has since raised those prices to $279 and $349 in Canada. The new model comes in a single $429 configuration with 128GB of storage.
Siri AI now takes over the full screen. Ask which Apple TV shows won at the Emmys and you get poster art from the Apple TV app plus suggestions to keep browsing. Mid-show, you can ask where Pluribus was filmed or whether something is okay for a 15-year-old, with answers popping up in a small overlay. With an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone, it can even handle a request like playing the show a friend recommended.
Three far-field microphones mean you no longer need the remote to talk to Siri. Apple says echo cancellation separates your voice from whatever is playing. Far-field Siri support covers English and French, among other languages.
Under the hood, the A19 chip delivers up to 50 percent faster CPU and up to 2x faster GPU performance than the last model, along with a dedicated AV1 decoder for more efficient streaming. The Siri Remote keeps its design but adds Find My with Precision Finding and a play-sound option, which should end the couch cushion search. It also works with older Apple TV models and is sold separately.
Paired with four HomePod mini 2 or HomePod (2nd generation) speakers in matching front and rear pairs, the new box supports four-speaker surround sound that calibrates itself to the room. As a home hub, it shows doorbell feeds on the TV, adds Apple Intelligence descriptions to HomeKit Secure Video clips, and includes Wi-Fi and Thread.
Siri AI launches in English in Canada, and Apple says it is also coming in beta to Apple TV 4K (2nd generation) and later, so older models are not left out entirely.
The new Apple TV is part of a wider home push that also includes the Apple Home Collection of locks, doorbells and thermostats, following the October Apple TV and home hub launch expected last month.
Would you pay $429 for an Apple TV that listens, or is your current one good enough?
