TD App Can Now Pull Money From Other Banks in Seconds

TD has launched a new TD app experience that lets eligible clients move money from another Canadian bank into a TD account through a guided flow that starts in the app.
The bank says that once the other institution accepts the Interac ‘e-Transfer Request Money’ step, funds can show up in the TD account within seconds in most cases.
The feature builds on TD Digital Direct Deposit, which arrived earlier this year and lets clients set up or switch a paycheque deposit in the TD app in about a minute with most employers. Together, the two tools are meant to cover two of the sticky parts of switching everyday banking to TD: redirecting payroll and actually funding the account.
Clients start in the TD app, pick the external financial institution and the amount, then finish the transfer through the guided process. TD says that removes the need to add recipients or complete transfers through separate email-based workflows.
“At TD, we’re focused on making everyday banking simpler and more convenient,” said Aaron Clark, Senior Vice President, Everyday Banking, Saving and Investing. “This new experience makes it faster and easier to move money into a TD account, combining digital convenience with access to the personalized advice and support from TD colleagues that clients have come to expect from TD.”
Eligible accounts right now include several TD chequing plans, such as the TD All-Inclusive Banking Plan, TD Unlimited Chequing Account, TD Every Day Chequing Account, TD Student Chequing Account and TD Minimum Chequing Account, plus savings options including the TD Growth Savings Account, TD Every Day Savings Account and TD ePremium Savings Account.
Recently, the TD app also gained the ability to have scheduled and recurring Interac e-Transfers as well.
Rival apps keep pushing money-move tools too, from Simplii’s paycheque splitting to free Interac e-Transfers on Wise’s new Canadian chequing account. TD also says it is among the first banks in Canada to use ‘Interac e-Transfer Request Money’ this way for account funding, and that J.D. Power ranked it number one in Customer Satisfaction with Mobile Banking Apps for 2026.
Will you try the new funding flow the next time you open or top up a TD account?
