Twitter Details Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 Conversation Insights

Twitter has released a new batch of insights. This time around, the focus has been on the steep spike in Twitter conversations regarding the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 throughout the year.

With Microsoft and Sony both releasing their next-gen consoles this week, Twitter has detailed some global insights, showing the spikes in conversation throughout the year. Microsoft’s Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S have already released this week and the PlayStation 5 is just around the corner, releasing on November 12th.

According to Twitter, the social media platform saw conversations regarding the Xbox Series X skyrocket upon Microsoft’s stream of the Xbox Games Showcase on July 23rd. On that day, tweet volumes regarding Xbox Series X grew by 508% compared to the 30-day average prior.

Twitter saw similar increases for the PlayStation 5 during its online livestreams this year. During the Future of Gaming event on June 11th, where the hardware was revealed, PlayStation 5 tweet volumes increased by 750%. On September 16th, the day of the PlayStation 5 Showcase event, Twitter saw a spike of 690%. Both numbers were also compared to the 30-day average prior.

When looking at global insights, the numbers are fairly staggering. Twitter has broken down the increased volume of tweets per country regarding the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. The numbers compared all mentions of the consoles from January 1st through October 31st and compared it to the same period in 2019.

In Canada, conversations on the Xbox Series X rose 118.54% while the PlayStation 5’s tweet volume grew 234%. The US, on the other hand, saw a spike of 93.48% tweet volume for the Xbox Series X and 244.62% for PlayStation 5. The country with the highest tweet volume for the Xbox Series X was Brazil with 291.98%. While the Philippines had the largest increase to PlayStation 5 tweets with 399.45%.

Finally, Twitter provided a breakdown of the top 10 countries tweeting about the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 during the same January 1st – October 31st period.
