Have you ever placed a $500,000 order through an iOS application? Well, if you haven’t you can start saving some cash, because a family office in Saudi Arabia has just gotten ahead of you by booking a private jet using PrivateFly.com’s iPhone app.

The Telegraph reports that the client booked a Boeing Business Jet—a converted 737 airliner capable of nonstop flights up to 6192 nautical miles—for a trip in Europe with multiple stops in its mobile comfort zone.

What did the client get for this amount? A 5,390 cubic feet cabin that includes an office, board room, lounge, VIP bedroom and two bathrooms.

As PrivateFly’s CEO and co-founder Adam Twidell points out, this booking is the company’s biggest ever sale made through its iPhone app and it certainly proves the confidence in app technology.

Adam Twidell, PrivateFly’s CEO and co-founder, said: “A few years ago many industry experts said that private jet customers wouldn’t book online, never mind through a phone app – but we are delighted to be proving them wrong. We now see six per cent of our sales originating from our app and this is growing fast. It is particularly utilised with the new breed of jet customer, including technology entrepreneurs. We have seen over 100,000 downloads globally since we launched our first generation iPhone app.”

“The $500,000 BBJ flight was a particularly significant milestone because it proves that confidence in app technology has soared to the extent that such a significant, luxury purchase is being made this way.”

The company was the first one of its kind to launch an app for private jet pricing back in 2010, and now Twidell says about 6% of the sales are coming from its application, and it is growing fast.
