Announced today, Bell will be the first provider in Canada to support the cellular Family Setup service for Apple Watch. The provider will support a monthly plan for $15 CAD.
Last week, Apple revealed that when the Apple Watch Family Setup debuts in Canada on December 14th, Bell will be the first to provide support to users. Now, we have an understanding of what Bell’s monthly service plan includes and the benefits users will see from signing up. The Apple Watch Family Setup enables children or older family members who may not have an iPhone to use the Apple Watch and its slew of features.

Family Setup was introduced in WatchOS 7.2. Those who do not own and use an iPhone can utilize Family Setup on an Apple Watch to gain access to the device’s communication, health, and fitness features over LTE. However, in order to do so, a Smartwatch Standalone plan is required. As such, Family Setup is only available on cellular models of Apple Watch Series 4 or later. The Apple Watch must also be paired with an iPhone 6s or later.
Bell will be the first in Canada to offer the Smartwatch Standalone plan. For $15/Month, Bell’s plan offers voicemail, unlimited nationwide calling, unlimited text, and 1GB of data. Additionally, call display, call waiting, call conferencing, Voice over Wi-Fi and visual voice mail will also be available on the plan. Bell is also offering a limited $5-off promotion currently.
