Rogers/Fido Extends $60/10GB Plan to Dec. 19 for Existing Customers [u]

It’s been challenging for customers of the ‘Big 3’ wireless carriers to reach customer service reps over the phone and social media, as many try to jump on promo $60/10GB plans before they expire today and tomorrow.

A Rogers spokesperson told iPhone in Canada they’ve seen “tremendous response from Canadians”, and want to “thank everyone for their patience and apologize for any wait.”

For new Rogers and new Fido customers, the $60/10GB plans expire today (except for Fido BYOP in Ontario, as that ends Dec. 19, end of day) in BC, Alberta and Ontario.

But wait–due to “overwhelming demand and longer wait times,” Rogers explains, they will “honour the offers for existing customers for tomorrow [Dec. 19] only,” for customers in BC, Alberta and Ontario.

Rogers also added “we regularly have lots of great regional and limited offers, especially around the holiday season. We’re pleased to offer great plans on our reliable worry-free network with LTE coverage across the country.”

Here are the current plans from Rogers expiring today for new customers in AB/BC/ON:

  • $60/10GB BYOD
  • $85/10GB Premium plan
  • $110/10GB Premium Plus plan
Existing Rogers customers in AB/BC/ON will see these plans expire at end of day on December 19.
Here are the current plans from Fido expiring today for new customers in AB/BC/ON:
  • $85/10GB Large plan
New and existing customers on Fido in Ontario will see the $60/10GB plan expire at end of day on December 19.

No word if Telus and Bell along with their flanker brands will match these extended dates (Koodo expires Dec. 19), but we’ll keep you updated.

Update: Try calling the international number 416-935-5555 to get through to an agent, as that seems to have lesser wait times (thanks Meteor/Mic). Here’s another number to try too: 1-888-764-3772.

Upgraded 2 separate Rogers phone plans to this in 1 hour (that includes the on hold and the actual call) today! Pretty happy with that!

I got through to 855-381-7834 about 7:30 am mtn time and managed to change over both my girlfriend and my plans.
1hr 10 min on hold after 3 busy signals

go through the menus or just press the zero button several times – gets you through the redundant menu system quicker

Good luck!

I don’t get the comment above regarding Rogers poorer coverage. I live in Edson alberta and since Rogers partnered and now auto connects to partner networks about 18 months now, I find their coverage quite excellent, and no worse than my colleagues with Telus or Bell…

in the past, I may as well have shut my phone off when heading home to Saskatchewan as coverage used to be appalling. Have roam like home, leave roaming on, use data and minutes on whichever network connects. Remote areas will often connect to ‘rogers extended network’ which is simply telus, sasktel or whoever is in the area at no extra charges. Ask the Rogers or Fido rep for details – my girlfriend was with Fido until she came over to Rogers this week. Fido works the same way

Did you dial the 1-888-ROGERS-1 number? I’ve been trying the whole day and I can’t get past the damn recordings, it always hangs up on me after the “let me get a live agent for that” recording, regardless of which option I choose.

Called the 1-800-898-2355

But I called at like 10 a.m. this morning. I knew the afternoon would be stupid crazy busy.

Fido is down for the count as well. No way to connect with them presently. I’ve had a chat window open telling me “A Fido rep will be with you shortly” for 4 hours…

Rogers/ Fido’s reception isn’t the best here in Alberta, especially in rural areas where I travel to a lot for work. I went with Bell and a quite a bit of wait on hold of 45 mins, but the entire process took less than an hour. $120 for two lines, and 20 GB of data was totally worth it.

For Telus customers, email them at ap**@***us.com. When I got through to customer service there was a recording saying to email them at that address and they would process your request for the promotion in 48-72 hours.

Finally got my plan changed, had to go into Rogers store. When I got home and checked my account it shows I have the 5gb/$60 plan no mention of the bonus 5gb is anyone else seeing this?

It’s fine. It’ll show up as ten gigs in a day. Mine did. I went with fido so same company. It just shows funny at first

Mine says that too. I signed up online on Saturday before the bonus was permanent. I called this morning to make sure I got it because I didn’t get a text and the CSR said that for some reason the code was added to my account. After about ten minutes she said it’s on even though it’s still says five. Later in the day I called back to make sure it’s still saying it’s there and it does. My new cycle starts in two days so my thought is it will change then.

Was anyone able to get Rogers to add free Visual Voicemail to the $60/month deal, to match Telus’ free VV offer? I know it’s only $5, that adds up over the years.

i went to a kiosk at the mall and he said i had to switch to get the deal. i used to be fido and switched to rogers. i’m kind of upset that i lost my spotify.. i never considered it utnil it disappered. and generally i felt that fido customer service is better. ( i was with rogers before i went to fido also). i wish i was still on fido with 10gb and the pulse plan, meaning i get spotify premium.

I’m wrong. The terms of the 10GB plan apparently are non share plans and don’t allow the NHL, Texture and Spotify perks that the other plans have. Found this out after posting. Sorry for the bad info but all their other plans do have it. I guess this is the way to make it cheaper.

Yeah, I realized that last night. No bells and whistles whatsoever with these plans. You can’t even add data to these ones. The 10 is maxed and harsh overages past that.

I waited on hold for two hours and my call failed. Started a chat with them when I got to work. from 11:10am to 4:30pm. NO ONE CAME to the chat! I went to the store at the Eaton Centre (Toronto) waited in line for 40 mins. When I got to the Fido person. They couldnt help me because my plan was a downgrade although I was getting more. I was told to call the number. I called the number for a full hour start at 5:30pm and the call will FAIL all the time. At around 630 my call when through, or so I thought and I got a recording saying “DUE TO CIRCUMSTANCES BEYOND OUR CONTROL WE CANNOT TAKE YOUR CALL AT THE MOMENT” I spent more time trying to get this plan today than my regular 8 hour shift. AT IT AGIAN TOMORROW!

Called Fido got hung up on,went online to Fido could not get the plan that was being offered so tried calling again, got hung up on, called Rogers 7 times just to hear a busy signal. Tried to go online on Rogers where it let me get just far enough then. Whoops could not process. Physically went into a Rogers where I was told there was nothing they could do because their HQ was so f**** so I went to virgin and 1 hour later I walked away with a new phone and 10 gbs of data. Get your shirt together rogers.

I’m on Rogers, and was previously paying $96/6GB Premium Plan ($120 -20% corp discount) so decided to take the $85/10GB Premium Plan deal. My justification is I want to upgrade to next year’s new iPhone and the subsidized price outweighs the savings on the $60/10GB plan, plus I would need to pay off my $200 flextab balance. What do you guys think, as I still have today to change my mind as an existing customer.

You don’t have to pay off your device balance for the $85/10GB Premium Plan.

Yes that’s exactly the offer I took, rather than paying off my device balance in favour of the $60/10GB No Tab plan. I think my math is correct and this is the right choice for me but I’m surprised nobody else is reporting they did the same!

I just got the plan. I chose the $60 monthly service fee no hardware tab option. All the toll free lines were CLOGGED so I called a different number to get around. Ha!

Mind u I still had to wait at least 45 minutes or so before someone answered…

LOL. It’s like finding a Unicorn when you get a live agent! I was scared the call might get disconnected as that happens with my phone a lot. Thank goodness it didn’t. He also mentioned he’d add an option so the deal doesn’t expire after 2 yrs. But, I don’t think it expires anyways.

Or a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow! Shut up and take my money!! 🙂 The rep I talked to said she spent 5 hours on hold on her day off yesterday, trying to get the deal for herself and her family. She never got through. It boggles my mind that the reps have to jump through the same hoops as we do, because they’re not allowed to help themselves (neither are they allowed to help their colleagues). Weird.

It shows up as Talk and text 5GB as your plan, correct? Waited an hour and 30 early this morning and 5 minutes later it was done. Had my 6GB plan since 2008. better plan and cheaper. Is the iPhone value pack still necessary?

Can anyone help explain the old iPhone value pack that I’ve had since the iPhone 3G days ($16) and the iPhone visual voicemail that is $5 on the Rogers website? Is there redundancy with the talk and text 10GB plan and the iPhone value pack and it makes sense to cut it and save a further $11 by getting the visual voicemail at $5? I’m thinking yes but maybe someone else will have further insight on this.

Hey, no they are not the same. The iPhone value pack gives you more features, such as who called, call transfer, visual voicemail, name display, US and Int’l preferred rates. The $5 one, is just Visual Voicemail, that’s it.

Also, you’re paying too much, call and ask to get your iPhone value pack revised and updated. It should cost you $6.99. I pay that.

Gosh. This offer was (and is) tempting. Cant wait for the day to end. But I decided to stay with my current Fido 45$ 4GB plan (2016 BF day) with 1000 international minutes to 8 countries. I have 5$ off till next summer to offset the bill as Fido increased it from 40$ to 45$ few months ago. I frequently use the Int. minutes to call a couple of countries and i dont go over the 4 GB data.

Gary

Try calling the international number 416-935-5555 to get through to an agent, as that seems to have lesser wait times. Here’s another number to try too: 1-888-764-3772
