Rogers Says Mobilicity Acquisition, Shaw Spectrum Deal Officially Complete
Roger issued a press release this afternoon to announce it has “received all requisite governmental, creditor and court approvals and has completed the acquisitions of both Mobilicity and Shaw’s AWS wireless spectrum.”

After speculation Mobilicity was set to be acquired by TELUS (in yet another attempt) or Rogers, the latter made the announcement in late June it had purchased the wireless startup. The deal saw WIND Mobile also gain spectrum from the deal and Rogers finally acquire Shaw’s unused AWS spectrum. The Competition Bureau gave the deal the green light a day later, making this one of the fastest wireless transactions ever seen.
Industry Minister James Moore called the deals a “win for Canadian consumers.” A chart of the final spectrum changes can be seen below:

A win for Canadians he says? An media never questioned him about his ludicrous comment?
Since Rogers paid 300 millions on this deal and Wind didn’t pay a penny getting free spectrum, his comment is fair to me. Lol.
Anyone think it would be a good idea to take out a mobilicity plan in the hopes of getting grandfathered into their rates while then getting access to an expanded network?
The plan may last a year or two but I wouldn’t count on it to last forever.
