TELUS to Invest $1 Billion in Ontario to Extend LTE Network and More

As part of the company’s ongoing investment plans, TELUS has announced it will invest $1 billion in Ontario through 2019, to “enhance the speed, capacity and coverage of its wireless networks in both rural and urban communities, provide critical fibre optic connections to business clients, and further enhance its innovative offerings for Ontario businesses and healthcare providers.”

Part of the investment will see wider capacity added to its 4G LTE networks, with further reach to rural areas. TELUS says “more than 99 percent of Ontarians” have access to their LTE wireless network as of today.

Last month, TELUS announced it was set to invest $2 billion in Quebec for similar enhancements, and earlier this month said it would spend $4.5 billion in B.C., as well.
