Telus to Increase Price of $60/10GB Promo Plan by $10 Starting in March/April [u]

Rogers and Bell recently increased the price of the coveted $60/10GB BYOD holiday plan from 2017, with Telus being the lone holdout.

But that has changed, as the Burnaby-based company has started notifying customers of a $10 price increase starting in April, taking it to $70/10GB. Rogers and Bell are only increasing their prices by $5 per month.

According to a letter seen by iPhone in Canada, Telus says “we’re writing to inform you that your monthly service charge for the promotional $60/10GB wireless plan(s) on your account, will be increasing by $10. This monthly increase will be reflected on your April bill.”

As for a reason for the price increase? Telus started out the letter to detail how they have been “working hard to dramatically improve our TELUS network coverage, speed and reliability,” emphasizing recent mobile speed awards.

Concluding the letter, dated February 2019, Telus writes “we are confident that your current plan will continue to provide you with great value. If you would like to explore other rate plan options, we invite you to visit Telus.com/plans.”

We’ve reached out to Telus for comment on this price increase and will update this post accordingly.

Update: A Telus spokesperson confirmed the price increases to iPhone in Canada, saying the “increases will roll out in March and April depending on billing cycle.”

Thanks K.C.
