Videotron says it has extended its waiving of internet data overages on residential and business internet plans until June 30, 2020.
In a weekend announcement, the company says “the move will help support telework and allow people to stay connected without worrying about going over their plan’s data limit.” Videotron removed caps on Internet back on March 13, 2020 and said, “the other major Canadian telecommunications companies followed suit with similar measures.”
“We have taken a series of initiatives to make life easier under these exceptional circumstances,” says Jean-François Pruneau, President and CEO of Videotron, in a statement. “Our priority is to enable our customers to focus on what matters most: their health and that of their loved ones. We are therefore extending all of our measures to June 30.”
Videotron says they have also waived roaming charges outside Canada and Daily Traveller Pass fees until June 30th as well, while about 50 specialty TV channels have been made available for free for those staying at home, along with “a hundred titles of exclusive on-demand content available free of charge.”
For customers with financial difficulties due to COVID-19, the company is offering relief “on a case-by-case basis.”
Rogers, Telus and Bell have similarly extended waiving of internet data overages until June 30, 2020.
