More Rumours Apple Working on 12.9-Inch iPad for 2014

Earlier last month, rumours emerged that Apple is thinking big: a 4.7-inch or 5-inch iPhone 6. But this is just the beginning of the “Let’s go HUGE” Apple story. The latest Apple rumour claims that the company is planning to release a 12.9-inch iPad maxi as early as next spring.

The rumour comes from the Chinese PadNews (via GForGames), which has heard that Foxconn is already testing a 12.9-inch iPad. Apple’s partner is currently doing the UI prototype debugging “until the machine is completely finalized”.

If everything goes as planned and the rumour is correct, we will likely see a 12.9-inch (or maybe a 11.4-inch – the source is undecided) iPad maxi on the market next March.

The reasons cited by the source for an iPad maxi are varied but interesting: as far as they can see, Microsoft’s Surface acts as a major traction power in the bigger-screen tablet–notebook combo market, and the future seems to be a cross-border integration.

Another reason could be the price: the cheapest MacBook Air is priced at $999 in the US, and the iPad maxi could be priced between the full-sized iPad and entry level MacBook Air. They didn’t count that keyboard accessory in, though.

In the end, this is yet another rumour of a huge iPad maxi. From the analysts’ perspective, 2014 will be a HUGE year for Apple. Literally.
