Next Generation iPhone Models Found In iOS 4.3
With the release of iOS 4.3 Beta 1, the Internet has been digging deep into the new firmware. Aside from the new found features, reports have come in that indicate that references of the next generation iPhone have been located in iOS 4.3.
As seen below, the model numbers reference to yet unreleased iPhone and iPad devices. The designations include:
- iPad2,1
- iPad2,2
- iPad2,3
- iPhone4,1
- iPhone4,2
As a reference, the current iPad is marked as “iPad1,1” while the current GSM iPhone 4 carries the “iPhone3,1” model number. The new found model numbers represent the next generation iPad and iPhone, the iPhone of which is expected this summer 2011.

Wow. So 4.2 never got an untethered jailbreak and now 4.3 is on its way…..yikes….
Whats the Verizon iPhone called in there? Does it fall under iPhone 3,1? Or could that be the iPhone 4,1 and the GSM/dual version will be iPhone 4,2?
More likely 3,2 or 3,3.
I’d think 3,2 could be the Verizon CDMA-only one, while 3,3 could me a CDMA/GSM combo unit…
4,1 and 4,2 will likely be the iPhone 5 or 4S…

yup it’s becomign hard for the jailbreak community to keep up.
I think if there is any new phone it will probably be like a 4S or something, apple is still killing it regardin iphone 4 sales, so a huge overhaul is to me not likely.
i think thats the point apple is trying to make…try n keep up all you want, but pretty soon it wont be worth it trying to completely debug the current iOS jailbreak, cuz a new iOS will be out before you know it. This is probably why we only see minor iOS updates anymore
Yeah. Stretch it for as long as possible instead of obe big update to prove a point to jailbreakers. I don’t mind jailbreaking ether way, I just think it’s losing it’s thunder because it’s becoming a pain to keep up so apples winning lol.
