Apple Launches 12 Days of Christmas App in the UK, Canada Soon Too?

Apple has once again launched its 12 Days of Christmas app for its UK customers, notes MacRumors. The app description reads:

You and your friends can download a fantastic selection of songs, music videos, apps and books for free. Each download will only be available for 24 hours. Get our special 12 Days of Christmas app to make it even easier to access your gifts while you’re on the go.

Don’t have an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch? Don’t worry. Come back 26 December to download gifts from your computer.

Other rumours have speculated Canada will get the app this year, too. If history repeats itself, this won’t be coming true anytime soon. But, Canada was part of the recent Apple Store app update, so there is hope.

Last year, Canada participated in 12 Days of Christmas but we didn’t get an app–we received free downloads through an association with newspapers in the Postmedia Network, such as the Vancouver Sun.

The recent 2011 iTunes Back to School Event was run in a similar way. Users had to visit a partner page to find out the new daily download from iTunes (boring, I know). Free downloads were either TV shows, movies, or books.

The landing page for last year’s 12 Days of Christmas still works, and the dates remain the same (the page looks messed up though): December 23 to January 3. Could these dates return for 2011? If they do, expect an announcement the day before like last year.
