Retina MacBook Air Not Expected at Apple’s Oct. 16 Special Event: Re/code

Were you hoping for a Retina MacBook Air to be announced at Apple’s special event this week? You might as well keep dreaming, because well-connected John Paczkowski from Re/code has all but confirmed the device won’t be announced this year, despite rumours claiming it had started production:

Apple may well have a new MacBook Air with Retina Display in the pipeline, but it’s not going to unveil it this week. Sources familiar with Apple’s plans tell me that the company’s latest reimagining of the ultralight laptop won’t be shown off at its Thursday event.

Earlier this summer, it was reported the 12-inch Retina MacBook Air would not debut until early 2015 and this latest report seems to corroborate the later launch time.

The reporter again emphasizes we’ll see new iPads, a ‘new hi-res Mac’ and the public launch of OS X Yosemite.
