OS X Yosemite Download Now Live in the Mac App Store [u]

Update 2:32PM PDT: The download link is now working for us in Canada.

Apple has released OS X Yosemite for download in the US and worldwide Mac App Stores, as promised as part of today’s special event announcements.

Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering says “OS X Yosemite is the most advanced version of OS X we’ve ever built, with a brand new design, amazing Continuity features and powerful versions of the apps you use every day.”

Continuity features with iOS devices will require iOS 8.1—which will become available on Monday, October 20.

These Macs will support OS X Yosemite: 

  • iMac (Mid 2007 or newer
  • MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer
  • MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
  • MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
  • Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
  • Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
  • Xserve (Early 2009)

These versions of OS X will support the Yosemite upgrade:

  • OS X Snow Leopard (v10.6.8)
  • OS X Lion (v10.7)
  • OS X Mountain Lion (v10.8)
  • OS X Mavericks (v10.9)
