Taking the stage to resounding (albeit digitally manufactured) applause in his recent YouTube video is tech enthusiast and internet sensation Marques Keith Brownlee (aka MKBHD) with this year’s installment of his annual ‘Smartphone Awards’.

In MKBHD’s ‘Smartphone Awards 2020’, Apple clinched very attractive-looking trophies in two out of the nine categories and came incredibly close to bagging a third.

Best Camera Phone

This crown was claimed by Apple’s highest-end offering of the year — the iPhone 12 Pro Max.

“The iPhone takes great, editable photos consistently,” making it “just hard to beat overall.” MKBHD also commented on the introduction of ProRaw which further extends the edit-ability of shots captured on the iPhone, as well as the iPhone 12 Pro Max’s impeccable video capabilities.

Most Compact Smartphone

The iPhone 12 mini was pretty much a no-brainer for this category, even though it was heavily contested this year.

“It’s the same as all the rest of the other iPhones, but smaller,” is what Marques had to say about the device that packs all the same components, hardware, and software as the larger iPhone 12 models in a much smaller frame.

The $599 CAD 2nd-Gen iPhone SE almost took the title of ‘Best Budget Phone’ this year, but was shown up by the beast on a budget — Google’s Pixel 4a, and won runner-up in the category instead.

Here’s what the complete roster of winners for MKBHD’s ‘Smartphone Awards 2020’ looks like below:

  • Best Big Smartphone: Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra
