Apple Investigating iPhone 12 Display Flickering and ‘Ugly Glow’ Issues

Citing an internal Apple document, MacRumors is reporting that the company has acknowledged an issue which causes some iPhone 12 displays to exhibit flickering, an ‘ugly’ green or grey glow, as well as some other lighting variations under certain conditions.

Apple has shared the document with Apple Authorized Service Providers this week, noting that it is aware of customer reports related to this issue and is already investigating them. Apple expects to fix the issue in a software update, instead of offering any hardware replacements.

Apple has advised technicians to avoid servicing affected iPhones, at least for now, and instead inform customers that they should keep their iPhone up to date with the latest iOS version. This guidance suggests that Apple may be confident that it can fix the issue in a future software update.

Back when some iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max users experienced a similar green-tinted display issue, Apple was able to fix it by rolling out iOS 13.6.1.
