Apple Once Again Celebrates Earth Day with Apple Watch Activity Challenge

Apple is celebrating Earth Day once again with a special Apple Watch fitness challenge.

On Earth Day last year, Apple not only shared details of its environmental initiatives but created a new Earth Day Challenge for Apple Watch users.

While this year’s Earth Day event remains unannounced, MacRumors reader Kyle Seth Gray spilled details about the competition, including images of the achievement badge and accompanying iMessage sticker those who complete the challenge will receive. Apple Watch owners can earn the one-day-only award by completing any workout on April 22 for 30 minutes or longer.

As well as a badge, users who complete the challenge will also receive a sticker to use on iMessage — again, users will only be able to earn the badge on Earth Day, and those who do not complete the challenge will be unable to receive the sticker at a later date.

Activity Challenges allow Apple Watch users to collect virtual trophies available through the Achievements tab of the Activity app on iOS, and the stickers that users can unlock through this year’s Earth Day Apple Watch Activity Challenge can be seen above.

This will mark the third time Cupertino held an Earth Day challenge for Apple Watch wearers. Throughout the year, the company organizes one-off contests that reward users for working out on specific days. Past events landed on holidays like Thanksgiving and Mother’s Day, while Apple’s New Year challenges land in January.

This month’s challenge is the third so far this year. The previous two marked International Women’s Day in March and Heart Month in February.
