Google to Launch Cheaper Nest Thermostat Controlled by Hand Gestures: Report
Current Nest Thermostat E
According to Mark Gurman reporting for Bloomberg, a cheaper Nest Thermostat is coming from Google, priced at $129 USD (roughly $170 CAD), according to unnamed sources.
The new Nest Thermostat product is said to launch “in coming weeks” and will be built out of plastic like the existing Nest Thermostat E.
“Google is also replacing some touch-based controls with a new technology that relies on hand gestures, said the people, who asked not to be identified discussing private details. The new thermostat will include a sensor similar to the Soli system included in last year’s Google Pixel 4 phone,” reports Gurman.
Swiping a hand up or down will be able to control this new Nest Thermostat’s temperature and menus.
Recently, Google launched new cheaper Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5 smartphones, to go with a new Nest Audio smart speaker and new Chromecast with Google TV.
