You Can Now Download iOS 13.5 for iPhone, iPadOS 13.5 for iPad, tvOS 13.4.5

Apple has released iOS 13.5 for iPhone, along with iOS 13.5 for iPadOS and more. The release comes just two days after the release of iOS 13.5 GM seed for developers, and watchOS 6.2.5.

iOS 13.5 includes Apple’s opt-in Exposure Notification API created with Google, to allow public health authorities to track the spread of COVID-19.

Apple CEO Tim Cook said just now, “Technology can help health officials rapidly tell someone they may have been exposed to COVID-19. Today the Exposure Notification API we created with @Google is available to help public health agencies make their COVID-19 apps effective while protecting user privacy.”

According to iOS 13.5 release notes, Apple says it “speeds up access to the passcode field on devices with Face ID when you are wearing a face mask and introduces the Exposure Notification API to support COVID-19 contact tracing apps from public health authorities. This update also introduces an option to control automatic prominence of video tiles in Group FaceTime calls and includes bug fixes and other improvements.”

The update also allows an option for you to “automatically share health and other essential information from your Medical ID with emergency services when you place an emergency call,” but this feature is US only.

As for bug fixes, Apple says there is a fix for seeing a black screen when playing videos on some websites and also fixes a bug within the share sheet where suggestions and actions may not load.

It’s nice to see Apple’s release notes for iOS 13.5 are now easier to read with separated titles and sections.

Also available today is iOS 12.4.7 for older iPhones, while tvOS 13.4.5 is also available.
