Leaked Images Reveal Samsung’s ‘Metal’ Galaxy Alpha, Set to Battle Apple’s iPhone 6 [PICS]

Samsung has announced a media event set to take place on September 3 in Berlin, just ahead of the IFA 2014 tradeshow. Many expect the South Korean company to unveil its Galaxy Note 4 and also its rumoured Galaxy Alpha smartphone, which had more images leaked this morning via @culeaks (no relation to the retired @evleaks?).

The images below show a device that appears thinner than Apple’s iPhone 5/5s design, except there’s a thick camera bulge protruding from the rear. The device has chamfered metal edges, which look eerily similar to the iPhone 5/5s design, down to the integrated antenna bands. The back though, is again made of ‘band-aid’ looking plastic it seems.

Also leaked were the device’s alleged specs:

Cam: 12Mp
Pin:1850mAh
Screen: 4″7 720p
CPU: Exynos Octa Core, A15
RAM: 2GB
Model: SM-G850S
Android: 4.4.4

Samsung last month mocked Apple users waiting for the next generation iPhone 6, rumoured to have larger screens, in its ad titled ‘screen envy’.

Despite the jabs at Apple, the South Korean company is feeling the pain, as its marketshare in both China and India has been surpassed by companies making cheaper-priced smartphones. Its recent second quarter financials revealed sales and profits were down, due to declining smartphone sales.

Earlier today, a report noted its chip sales are also down as Apple looks to diversify its future Ax series production to TSMC.
