Nintendo’s upcoming smartphone game title Mario Kart Tour, which was slated for release before the end of March 2019, has now been delayed till summer. According to The Verge, Nintendo has made the decision “in order to improve quality of the application and expand the content offerings after launch”.

Worried Nintendo fans might want to remind themselves of one of the more famous quotes from Mario and Zelda creator Shigeru Miyamoto: “A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad.”

Nintendo made the announcement in its quarterly earnings report today, in which it revised its Switch sales forecast despite strong holiday season, down to 17 million units for the fiscal year from previous 20 million units.

Mario Kart Tour is the second major Nintendo game title to hit a release delay in the past few weeks. The company announced last week that the highly anticipated Metroid Prime 4’s development is being completely rebooted with no scheduled release date so far.

Beyond a logo and release window announced last year, Nintendo has not yet provided any further details about the Mario Kart Tour.
