Apple has added a bunch of interesting new features to its Messages app in iOS 14, some of which will also be made available on Mac through the upcoming Big Sur macOS update.
Starting with iOS 14, users will be able to pin conversations to the top of their messages list so that your most important contacts will always stay on top. You will also get better notification options in the update, such as opt to only receive a notification when you’re specifically mentioned.

Apple notes that its new group reply options make it easy to keep up with lively group threads through mentions and inline or quoted replies, just like WhatsApp. Moreover, you can customize your conversations by setting a group photo using an image or emoji.
Lastly, the new Memoji options in Messages are more inclusive and diverse with additional hairstyles, headwear, face coverings, and more.
