‘Twitter Blue’ Subscription Service to Cost $2.99 USD, Include ‘Undo’ Feature

Notorious ‘new feature’ detective Jane Manchun Wong (@wongmjane) recently revealed in a series of tweets that Twitter is currently calling its upcoming ‘premium’ subscription service ‘Twitter Blue’.

As part of the service, subscribers will gain access to a number of perks and paid features for $2.99 USD a month.

Features rumoured to be part of the subscription currently include ‘Undo Tweets‘, an option that will let subscribers rescind tweets in the few seconds after they’ve been sent out, making it as if they were never posted at all, and ‘Collections’, which will let users group and organize tweets into easy to find collections — kind of like Instagram’s ‘Highlights’ feature lets you do with posts.

Introducing a paid subscription model to the platform has been in the works for almost a year now, with the idea being egged on by decreasing ad revenue. Twitter even considered imposing a subscription fee on popular Twitter dashboard Tweetdeck.

Twitter is also reportedly working on a ‘Bookmark Collections’, which will let users organize their bookmarks in different folders. The feature will presumably only be available to subscribers.

A ‘tiered’ subscription model also looks to be in the works, with different tiers of subscription providing users with different amounts and types of paid features.

With Twitter’s fresh acquisition of clutter-free, ad-free news reader Scroll, it is safe to assume that the service will also be bundled up quaintly with one (or more) of Twitter’s offered subscription tiers.

Wong’s discoveries have usually morphed into fruition so it appears this latest discovery may come true at some point in time.
