VELUX Skylights has introduced a new skylight automation system that improves indoor air quality and creates a more comfortable living environment.
According to a new press release from the company, the app, which is available on the App Store, supports HomeKit and pairs with the VELUX ACTIVE with NETATMO climate control and monitoring system, allowing for smartphone control and automation.
The system, which costs around $295 USD, includes smart sensor technology that monitors humidity levels, C02, and temperature throughout one’s home. This data, combined with local weather data, allows the system to automatically open the skylights if fresh air is needed. This automation allows for a more comfortable living environment through improved air quality, claims VELUX.
“VELUX ACTIVE takes the guesswork out, it makes it easier to achieve a healthy and comfortable indoor climate,” said Nels Moxness, president and CEO of VELUX Canada. “There is no longer a need to program or operate a remote control timer, it thinks for you, the system has the ability to recognize a need for fresh air and open the skylights automatically.”
Additionally, HomeKit support allows users to further integrate the skylights into their smart home systems, allowing for countless methods of automation through the Home app.
“VELUX ACTIVE with NETATMO is the result of two stunning technologies: high standard VELUX skylights and Netatmo’s know-how for creating simple and useful products and apps,” said Fred Potter, founder and CEO of Netatmo. “By automating the opening, closing, and shading of skylights, we can make a big difference and improve indoor climate so users don’t have to worry about it.”
The VELUXE ACTIVE with NETATMO system has an expected ship date sometime later this month. More information on the products can be found on VELUX’s website.
