How to Add Photos to iPhone into Folders
A lot of people get addicted to “the pinch” when viewing photos on the iPhone. A common question I get asked when people view my pictures is “how did you organize them into folders?”. Well, the solution is simple and it’s not very complicated at all. This following method is for PC users, for Mac users it would involve the same but tinkering with iPhoto. More on that later!
How to Add Photos to iPhone into Folders
Step One: Create a new folder on your desktop. Within this folder, create new folders and rename them to whatever you wish. EG Travel, Family, etc. Drag and drop your specific pictures into these renamed folders.
Step Two: Plug in your iPhone and launch iTunes. Click on your iPhone, and under the Photos tab at the top, tick off the appropriate folders you want your iPhone to sync with (these being the folders you just created and renamed). Next, sync your iPhone and TADA! Organized folders on your iPhone will appear!
I hope this helps all those people out there that asked me how to do this. Let me know how it goes for you. 🙂

Do you have to drag those folders into My Pictures after or will itunes find them on the desktop?
I did similar but I made the folders in My Pictures, and synced that.
Thanks
Having the pictures sync from “My Pictures” is not a problem. The directory does not matter (where you put the folders), just within iTunes/iPhone, locate the folders you want to sync and done!
Yeah, I managed to work that out but there doesn’t appear to be any way to move pictures from folder to folder on the phone itself. Any ideas?
So if you have pictures that you took with your iphone, you have to transfer them to your PC organize them there and then move back to your iphone, when you sinc?
That right. It seems that you can’t organize photos on the phone directly. OK if you’ve got a PC nearby, but what if you’re travelling? I hope this gets fixed.
very nice! it works! You explained it so very well, that it was so very easy to do! my next question: Is it possible to transfer pictures from folder to folder on the iPhone? Thanks!!
Steve
You can also use the iPhone application named Photo-Sort. Here is the link:

Thank you – this was so clear and helpful. It worked.
Perfect, my photos got all scattered and out of order the last time I updated, annoyed the heck out of me. Thanks for the clear and thorough tutorial, I’m going to do that right when I get home 🙂

I don’t quite understand??
Hi Gary!!
I read several post on my question; but yours was the most simplest & best.

Masud
Glad I could help! 🙂
this is not the case my iphone will not alow me to have folders in folders if i were to click that folder for syncing it would just take all the pictures within that folder and the folders within it and combine them together in one album. In my opinion this is a major flaw with the iphone as it requires you to back up your iphone and delete everything just to add a single folder then restore the rest….
Sweet. Glad I found this as I was getting so frustrated. I dislike that I can’t move or organize on the iPhone itself. I couldn’t find anyone else to explain how to create these folders within Photos – not even my customer service tech.
as others have said hopefully Apple will give us the ability in the future. Unfortunately with Steve Jobs’ illness I doubt anyone else will care enough.
Hi!
However the photos in folders will still appears into the Photo Library? Thanks.

I want to know why itunes delete the previous photographs when i connect and add new one in it. when i press sync it asks to replace the new photographs with the old ones.
I want to get all the photographs after adding the new ones.
