TweetDeck iPhone App Launches Tonight at 9PM PST

There is so much iPhone excitement this week I can barely contain myself. Tomorrow is the official launch for iPhone OS 3.0 firmware and on Friday the iPhone 3GS will be available in stores. But tonight at 9PM, one of my favorite twitter desktop apps, TweetDeck, will be releasing their iPhone app for FREE in the App Store!

Other notable iPhone twitter apps we’ve reviewed include Twitteriffic, Tweetie, TwitterFon, Twinkle, and TweetStack. The list of twitter apps is never ending as you can see!

The TweetDeck iPhone beta app details were first announced by Mr. Digg himself, Kevin Rose:

Features include:
– Column based friend groups! (like TweetDeck desktop)
– TweetDeck desktop syncing (make a change on the iphone and it’s reflected back on the PC)
– Facebook toolbar like status updates

Man, this twitter iPhone app looks incredible! Can’t wait to download this free app at 9PM tonight PST (don’t forget the iPhone Dev Team will also be doing a live demo of yellowsn0w for 3.0 tonight too, time TBA!)!

I would hope for midnight! If you set your clock/IP to est, maybe 9pm could be your friend

That’s awesome. Really like how it syncs the updates between the pc and iPhone version. Will be my number one twitter app.

Yes, this is a very cool feature. I’ve been using Tweetie on my iPhone and my Mac. Wish they did this.

So everyone knows – TweetDeck is already available on iTunes as of 6:45pm MT. It’s great! GO get it.

Thanks for the heads up! Tweetdeck for the iPhone rocks! Beautiful interface! Lacks features, but used in combination with Tweetie you can have hours of twitter fun!

I tried the free version but it doesn’t have multiple user support or trends. The free version of twitterific is my fave.

I tried tweetdeck for the iPhone (I don’t use any twitter interface on my PC) and although the interface is really cool (I love the multi screens that you can quickly flip through – kinda like the Pre) but I can only compare it to twitterific which is a great twitter application and it’s missing some key functionality.
For me the key feature that I don’t like is that when your tweets are updated, it starts you at the top of the list. It should automatically start you at the most recent “unread” but I can’t figure out how to get it to do that. Also it doesn’t have a “trends” section like twitterific. I like this feature to quickly see any breaking news. It would be nice if tweetdeck allowed you to do a “nearby” search as well.
At the moment, unless I can figure out a way to change the way it sorts the new tweets, I’m going to have to keep using twitterific.
