Next Generation iPhone Launching On June 18?
Yesterday we reported about AT&T running dry of their 8GB iPhone 3G stock, which served as additional evidence of an upcoming iPhone launch. Alongside the AT&T news, we’ve also seen the Apple Online Store remove the “select” button for the iPhone 3G, preventing users from purchasing the device and of course, we can’t forget the massive next generation iPhone leak.
Now Boy Genius Report delivers some release date news through their investigative skills of AT&T stores in the USA.
BGR has confirmed with numerous AT&T employees that AT&T sales quotas for devices for the month of June 2010 are approximately 30% higher than normal. In other words, the sales quotas are typically increased when there is a launch of a major device.
Based on what was known last year in regards to the number of iPhone 3GS units some AT&T stores received, if the next generation iPhone launched in the last week of June, on Friday June 25, AT&T reps would be unable to meet their sales quotas due to the lack of time.
However, with WWDC on Monday June 7, 2010, a likely launch date for the next generation would be Friday June 18, 2010. This date would not only give wireless carriers enough time to sell, such as AT&T, but would also provide Apple enough time to advertise the new device between WWDC and launch.
June 18, 2010 would also likely mark the Canadian launch date as well, considering both the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS were launched in North America (not just in the USA) on their respective launch dates.

It's definately coming. I an a Rogers customer in Canada and when I returned my 8 gb iPhone 3G last month it was replaced with a 16 gb 3GS due to “lack of availability. Woo hoo!!!
That's all to stay it's not just the American Stock running dry but Canadian as well.

Dudes, the new iPhone will be available on the day that Steve Jobs announces it – June 7. AT&T have announced their new data plans, (which the tech press has been all over) and the date that these new plans take affect? That's right, June 7. Why would they pick the same day as Steve's keynote other than the phones are actually being made available that day?
Won't be same day or day after. That's not how Apple does launches.

After spending the day with two Apple technicians yesterday I can safely say the new phone is being announced on Tuesday. Lots of Nudge, nudge, wink, wink going on yesterday every time Tuesday was mentioned.

Yeah, I know that's not how Apple has operated when it comes to releasing hardware, but I want to think that AT&T picked June 7 for the obvious reason when releasing it's new iPhone data plans. So they expect to sell zero iPhones between the time Steve announces the new phone and the actual release of the fourth generation iPhone?
Incongruous.
But come to think of it, Apple has announced some Mac hardware and made it available on that same day. I remember the last Macworld Expo that Apple gave a keynote at, they announced some different iteration of the MacBook Pro and that was available on that same Tuesday the keynote was given.

i hope its later than that to give samsung a chance at meeting the needs for OLED displays!….i'd rather a later release and OLED than earlier and no OLED.
