iOS 4.3.1 Signal Bars Issue Fix Coming via Ultrasn0w Update for All Users
The iPhone Dev Team released an untethered iOS 4.3.1 jailbreak thanks to i0n1c’s untether exploit. With the release of redsn0w and PwnageTool, some people have run into ‘cosmetic’ signal bar issues after jailbreaking. The issue results in having 1 bar for signal (for those with older basebands), even though the signal is broadcasting at full strength. This was acknowledged by MuscleNerd as an issue.
Just now, MuscleNerd tweeted a signal bar fix is coming for iOS 4.3.1 (and other issues) and is currently being tested to ensure it works properly on all devices.
How will the fix be implemented? It’ll be through an ultrasn0w update via Cydia, that will silently bypass the unlock and just fix the signal bars. Brilliant. Even those with basebands that cannot be unlocked will be able to use this fix.
To make clear: this ultrasn0w update coming is NOT a new unlock. Its purpose is to fix the signal bars issue.

The signal bars issue has been happening since ih8sn0w released Sn0wbreeze for the 4.3 tethered jailbreak many weeks ago.
Just did the sn0wbreeze jailbreak last night and notice the signal bars issue. As mentioned it’s just a cosmetic flaw as signal strength and quality seems normal.
Does it applies to jailbreaking using redsn0w?
Yes
