Apple Addresses Gmail Issues with Mail Update for Mavericks

Mail update Mavericks

Apple pushed out a Mail update for Mavericks 1.0, an update aimed to improve its compatibility with Gmail in addition to its other enhancements. The update comes after users running Apple’s latest desktop operating system, Mavericks, have experienced issues with receiving, sorting, and deleting emails.

Apple has acknowledged the issue, and it has reportedly been seeded to Apple employees and testers within Apple’s Customer AppleSeed program.

Mail Update for Mavericks includes improvements to general stability and compatibility with Gmail, including the following:

  • Fixes an issue that prevents deleting, moving, and archiving messages for users with custom Gmail settings

  • Addresses an issue that may cause unread counts to be inaccurate

  • Includes additional fixes that improve the compatibility and stability of Mail.

As Apple notes in the support document containing the update information, you should perform a backup before updating. The software update is available in the Mac App Store via the Software Update tab.
