During his visit to Taiwan, analyst Brian Blair had an opportunity to obtain more information about the iWatch. According to his sources, the smartwatch will have a round face like a normal watch.

To get a better idea what the iWatch will look like, the analyst compared it to Motorola’s already announced round Moto 360 watch, which is expected to arrive this summer. Motorola’s device will run Android.

Apple’s smartwatch will likely go into production in the second half of this year in July or August – just like the iPhone 6, according to Digitimes. The analyst’s sources reinforce earlier rumours about other iWatch models – probably one for men and one for women.

iWatch orders are higher than previously expected, Blair said in the note issued to investors today, so he updated this previous forecast of 15–20 million to 18–21 million.

Apple’s hirings in the fitness and medicine fields have spilled gas on speculation about the types of sensors the smartwatch will pack. What multiple sources have confirmed, though, is that Apple will likely focus on fitness and health with this new device, which could launch sometime this fall if the rumours are correct.
