4.7-inch iPhone 6 In Mass Production, 5.5-inch Version Only in September [Rumour]

The mass production of the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 has started, sources speaking to the Chinese United Daily News (via GforGames) have revealed. The second, 5.5-inch version, however, will only enter mass production in September, alongside the iPad line of Apple products, the same sources claim. This corroborates reports of a later launch of the iPhablet device.

The brokerage agency cited by the United Daily News, says that, after checking their sources, they found that the iPhone 6 faces yield issues. Exacerbating this, the monthly output of Apple’s supply chain at this point is low — but it’s enough to see iPhone 6 component leaks — and it will steadily increase in volume until the end of August.

The company’s Asian supply-chain partner is making preparations to increase production by up to 85% for the fourth quarter of 2014. The Apple product launches that will take place in the first fiscal quarter will have the ’Apple effect’ in the supply chain-as highlighted yesterday in the Wall Street Journal.

Apple is said to hold the iPhone launch somewhere in the second or third week of September, although there are signs for an earlier debut. The 5.5-inch version will be unveiled later this year — maybe alongside the iPads — the sources claim.

Earlier this year Eddy Cue has said that Apple’s product lineup is the best in his 25 years with the company, raising the benchmark for the forthcoming new devices.
