Apple suppliers are making preparations to provide components for up to 80 million units of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus before the end of this year, sources speaking to Digitimes reveal.

Apple aims to ship 80 million units of the iPhone 6-series products before the end of 2014, higher than the 60 million units of the iPhone 5 shipped in 2013, the sources indicated.

The handsets will be available for pre-order on September 12, and on September 19 will reach the stores in 10 countries, including Canada. According to supply chain rumours, Apple aims to ship 10 million units by the end of September, and between 60 and 70 million units during the fourth quarter. Although these aren’t sales numbers, they seem to meet the wildest forecasts analysts have been whispering lately.

The Digitimes report also lists the companies that are part of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus workflow: apparently, the Apple A8 SoC is manufactured by TSMC, which is in line with previous rumours, while Catcher Technology (the company that has been in the hot seat over working conditions) and Foxconn are providing the cases. Largan Precision and Genius Electronic Optical will supply the camera modules; Simplo Technology, the battery (no word about Desay, the manufacturer of batteries rumoured earlier); and Delta Electronics will provide the power supply.
