Quanta to Start Mass Production of Apple Watch in January [Rumour]

Apple suppliers have apparently solved yield issues, as Quanta will start manufacturing the highly anticipated Apple Watch two months earlier than initially projected, reports United Daily News (via GforGames).

The Taiwanese newspaper says Apple Watch assembly partner Quanta has hired up to 10,000 new workers, although this is only half of the goal of 20,000 employees. The company’s hiring process has something to do with the Apple Watch; however, as the sources say, the output will be roughly 3–5 million units, at least for the first wave.

The United Daily News report also covers a previous rumour of an early iPhone launch. Supply chain sources speaking with the newspaper contradict an iPhone 6s launch for the spring alongside the Apple Watch.

At one point, the rumour mill seemed to agree on a February debut of the Apple Watch. The company was vague enough to say “early 2015” when it introduced the device, and they had good reason to do so considering the partnership with GT Advanced. The latter was supposed to supply Apple with sapphire glass but failed to do so.

The Apple Watch will be available with a variety of band choices at a starting price of $349.
