iPad Pro to Allegedly Feature USB-C, Bluetooth Stylus, NFC and More

Alongside its (rumoured) 12.9-inch screen, the iPad Pro will include another set of features that will make the device appealing to customers, AppleInsider reports, citing an inside source familiar with Apple’s future product plans.

The iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 already incorporate an NFC controller, so it is logical that the bigger-screen iPad should include an NFC radio, because it would make pairing/connecting devices frictionless. Also, it could help transform the iPad Pro into an mPOS system.

The source also mentioned that the iPad Pro would feature a new touchscreen with “improved touch latency”, aimed at improving customer experience with the rumoured Bluetooth stylus. In addition to what we’ve heard so far about that built-in accessory, the source says it will feature a pressure-sensitive input.

An interesting addition to the feature mix is the USB-C port, which we saw in the newly launched 12-inch Retina MacBook. While the source couldn’t tell whether the Lightning port would be replaced by the USB-C port, you may recall that earlier renderings showed two ports, so the possibility is there. However, let’s not forget that Apple did not include a separate charging port with the MacBook, so we can expect it to do so the same with the iPad, considering that the number of ports has been limited since its launch.

It’s a no-brainer that the iPad Pro will feature the latest-and-greatest Apple chip, considering that the iPad Air 2 incorporates the A8X chip, a faster variant of the custom SoC used with the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.
