Wow! I don’t know why these INCUMBENTS don’t feel ASHAMED when a smaller carrier with way less resources and subs can sell the same iPhone way cheaper on contract than them!! Videotron has LTE and good service so Rogers Bell and Telus can’t rub it off like they do with WIND. “Oh we have better service then wind. We don’t see wind mobile as our competitor, we got LTE speeds..bla bla bla “
By any means I’m not defending the incumbents since they can do a lot better but here is something to keep in mind: It’s not always fair to compare smaller regional providers to the country wide companies. Think of the capital infrastructure required to cover let’s say Quebec with 8.2M of potential customers (I’m simply using total population) vs let’s say the territory of Alberta with a small population of 4.1M. Everyone expects the same quality of network and coverage regardless of how many of potential paying customers are available.
I could be wrong on this but it seems that regional providers like SK, QB and Wind have somewhat smaller infrastructure costs so they can afford to charge less. At times we saw that lower fees were done below cost to attract customers.
Again, no need to yell at me for defending big carriers since I agree they can do a lot better especially when their BOYD (without any subsidy) plans are now more expensive “just because” compared to several years ago.
I believe there is a happy medium between what big companies are charging and what regional providers offer.
I believe that should be the right price for the SE.
I hope Telus/Bell/Rogers can take a hint!!
